PLACER ACADEMY CUP 2007

The Academy hosted the first annual Placer Academy Cup on the weekend of July 14th and 15th. The Academy Cup is for all U9 and U10 boys teams and was conducted in conjunction with the older Placer boys tournament which runs over the same weekend.

The tournament was a huge succes with some of the best teams in the local area competing alongside teams from other areas.

U9 Champions - El Dorado Hills

El Dorado competed against a strong Santa Clara Sporting team in the championship game for the U9 age group, both teams had already played each other in the preliminary games and ended up meeting in the final where they played out a thrilling game which saw the two teams tie in regulation. The final then went to penalty kicks with the El Dorado team taking the Championship from the spot kicks.

Finalist - Santa Clara Sporting

U10 Champions - Elk Grove United

Elk Grove took on one of the home teams in the final playing against the Placer Academy Copas. It was a close game with no score at the half, although both teams had pleanty of chances. In the end Elk Grove took the championship game with a late goal which gave them a 1 - 0 victory.
